Nets Officially Announce Alan Anderson Signing

The Brooklyn Nets have made it official that they have signed Alan Anderson to a two-year deal with the second year being a player-option.

Anderson will backup Joe Johnson at shooting guard and help with reducing his minutes while playing good solid defense.

“If I was gonna take the minimum, I was gonna take it on the best team that wanted me,” Anderson said via conference call on Wednesday afternoon.

“The Nets were by far the best team that was trying to sign me, but I had other offers from teams that were offering more money, but the fit wasn’t the right for for me.

I’m not getting younger and I want to win. I’m a winner.”

PRESS RELEASE

Brooklyn, NY – The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent forward Alan Anderson, General Manager Billy King announced today. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released.

“We are pleased to add Alan to our roster, “ said King. “He is a versatile player who will add flexibility to our rotation.”

Anderson, a four-year NBA veteran who has played for two different teams, averaged 10.7 points and 2.3 rebounds on 38% shooting over 65 games (2 starts) last season for the Toronto Raptors. After starting his career with the Charlotte Bobcats for two seasons, where he averaged 5.8 points and 1.9 rebounds, Anderson would pursue a very successful European campaign with teams in Italy, Russia, Israel, Croatia, China, and Spain. Anderson would go on to win MVP at the Croatian Cup and Spanish Cup in 2009 and 2011, respectively. A Michigan State University graduate from the class of 2005, Anderson holds career averages of 8.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 135 NBA contests.
